UMW Toyota Motor has been a key player in the Malaysian automotive industry and is one of the companies in Malaysia to distribute a brand exclusively for the past last few decades. The company, part of the UMW Group, was established in 1982 in Petaling Jaya and was then moved into the newly renovated premises in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Today, UMW Toyota Motor has a network of 92 sales and after-sales outlet throughout Malaysia. Its subsidiaries include Assembly Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB), Toyota Boshoku UMW Sdn Bhd and Automotive Industries Sdn Bhd (AISB) while associated companies are KYB-UMW Malaysia Sdn Bhd, KYB-UMW Steering Sdn Bhd and JTEKT Automotive (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
